Our Journey so far!

Crownrise Finance Plc (formally Crownrise Finance and Investments Plc) was incorporated in 1990, and licensed as one of the first set of Finance Houses in 1992 by the Central Bank of Nigeria, to render an extensive array of financial and investment products and services. On March 28, 2000, the company converted to an unquoted public limited liability company having had more than 50 shareholders as required by law. In 2017, the company changed its name to Crownrise Finance Plc to reposition itself and moved to its owned house as a corporate head office. The Company’s share is adequately capitalized well above the CBN and other regulators’ minimum share capital requirements.
  • 1990 – 1992

    The company was founded in 1990 by a Dreamer, Babatunde Oladipupo RUFAI-LARIBA, an Ijebu man from the Yoruba race in the South-Western region of Nigeria. The company started operations in 1991 as a finance house in compliance with regulations by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to render financial services business. In 1992, it was duly certified as one of the first 50 finance houses to be granted full licence to operate in the country. The company commenced operations from a rented apartment at 202/204, Ikorodu Road, Palmgrove, Lagos. The company started with the required share capital of N5million as specified by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 1991 and has since been able to steadily increase its paid-up share capital till date.

  • 2000

    In the year 2000, the company moved to 208, Ikorodu Road, Palmgrove, Lagos as a result of increased business activities and growth. During the year, the company converted from its old name Crownrise Finance and Investment Limited to a new name, Crownrise Finance and Investment Plc making the company an unquoted public liability company, having had more than the number of shareholders required by law.

  • 2007 – 2010

    During the global economic melt-down which affected Nigeria too, the company was able to keep pace with positive responses to the needs of its customers, investors, regulators and all other stakeholders and came out with unblemished records, thus becoming one of the leaders in the financial services sub-sector in the country. This was confirmed through the recertification of the company by CBN in their public notice advert published in THISDAY newspaper on April 12, 2010, (number 12).

  • 2011 – 2014

    The company was engulfed in a minor financial crisis induced by the top management, but this was quickly put right by the dynamic and visionary Board of Directors who took the challenges upon themselves to restructure; and refinance the company for better and smoother running of its operations. Throughout this period, the company continued to maintain its obligations to its customers, clients and all other stakeholders accordingly. This was again certified by CBN in their publication in the PUNCH newspaper on March 19, 2012, (number 6).

  • 2016 – 2017

    In the year 2016, the company in its course to reposition itself and its operations in anticipation of growth in its business, changed its name from Crownrise Finance and Investment Plc to Crownrise Finance Plc and also acquired its Corporate Head Office, situated at 28A, Oguntona Crescent, Gbagada Phase 1, Gbagada, Lagos-Nigeria.
    The completion and final movement into its owned head office was realized on February 15, 2017. Over the years, the company has built a strong growing capital base and solid reputation for being responsible and dependable with integrity as its core value.

    The success story of the company till date is impinged on strong Leadership provided at all times and strict adherence to regulatory and statutory laws of the country.

    The company also has a branch office in Abuja, the federal capital city of Nigeria.

    The company is a member of both the Finance Houses Association of Nigeria (FHAN) and the Equipment Leasing Association of Nigeria (ELAN).

  • 2019

    In November 2019, the Securities and Exchange Commission registered the company, in accordance with the provisions of the Investment and Securities Act 2007 and the Commission’s Rules and Regulations.

    This has enabled it to become a player in the Bond and Securities market.
